Baby's Swimming

Parent And Baby Classes

It is never too early for your baby to learn to swim *. During the first precious months of your baby’s life, there are so many memorable moments and swimming lessons are often the highlight of the week for many parents and babies.

Swalings have extensive experience and knowledge of teaching babies to swim. We know that learning how to swim and being comfortable in the water at a young age has a multitude of benefits for your baby’s development, health and wellbeing.

We teach in a holistic manner, encouraging skin-to- skin contact between parent and baby to nurture the bonding process. Our aim is to develop your baby’s safety awareness and swimming skills to become second nature whilst providing a positive, enjoyable and relaxing experience. Our lessons encompass ‘bite size’ milestones to your baby’s learning, from understanding their own buoyancy to the association between gentle exercise and inner happiness.

* The appropriate starting age for your baby is at the parents and health visitors’ discretion.

Toddler’s Swimming

All children develop at different speeds and as such we avoid defining the exact age we would consider a child being more appropriate for ‘toddler’ classes. However, every child will sense that they are reaching the next stage of their development and as such the activity they engage in should be appropriate to their needs.

Our toddler classes expand on the parent and baby bonding experience whilst incorporating activities that continue to teach key water skills and safety. Swimming is a perfect activity to satisfy a toddlers growing energy and cognitive development, such as special awareness, communication and coordination. We take all of this in to account but ensure that your toddler is not overwhelmed or uncomfortable.

These classes are a natural progression from the Parent and Baby classes, however we would become toddlers who are yet to have experienced lessons. It is amazing how quickly toddlers respond to the new environment and learn lifelong swimming skills when guided in a fun, secure and progressive manner!
